Al spent his retirement years enjoying his family. He also
loved reading, playing his keyboard, working in his yard
and his garden, singing in the church choir and, of course,
fixing things.
In 2001, Al was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. As the
cancer progressed, his suffering increased, but his spirit
never wavered. He always greeted friends and family with a
hug and a smile that came from his heart. He loved to talk
and he loved to listen to what people had to say. He had a
genuine concern for the lives of others. His strength and
fortitude is an inspiration to us all.
